Howe appointed as new Magpies coach─── MORGAN PIEK 07:02 Tue, 09 Nov 2021
The English Premiership outfit, Newcastle United, has made their first appointment since the much-publicised Saudi-backed takeover.
The former Bournemouth coach Eddie Howe comes in as the club’s new manager of the Magpies following the recent sacking of Steve Bruce.
Howe will be in charge at St James' Park until 2024.
Speaking of his appointment, Howe, said he is grateful for the opportunity and wants to get stuck right in.
“It is a great honour to become head coach of a club with the stature and history of Newcastle United. It is a very proud day for me and my family.
“This is a wonderful opportunity, but there is also a lot of work ahead of us and I am eager to get onto the training ground to start working with the players.
“I would like to thank the club's owners for this opportunity and thank the club's supporters for the incredible welcome they have already given me. I am very excited to begin our journey together.”
Howe's first game in charge will be on 20 November when the Magpies host Brentford to St. James' Park.
Meanwhile, at Carrow Road, Norwich City has short-listed two candidates for the manager role following the sacking of Daniel Farke. Ironically Farke was fired straight after the Canaries' first win of the season.
