The Mamelodi Sundowns striker, Peter Shalulile, is four goals away from breaking the goal-scoring record in the Premier Soccer League.

The Namibian international has scored 22 league goals for the PSL champions thus far and needs three more in the next three games to equal Collins Mbesuma's record of 25.

Mbesuma has held the PSL goal-scoring record for 14 years.

The club’s coach, Manqoba Mngqithi, stated that the goal-scoring record is not something that Shalulile will be focused on in the remaining league games.

“I don't think he’s that kind of a player that we need to make an extra effort to get him in a good space mentally.

“I think for one, he is very focused and professional, one player that maybe more than anything else needs to be assisted to achieve that, because I don't even think it's something that rings in his head that ‘I want to surpass Mbesuma's record’ ”.

Mamelodi Sundowns will face the Soweto giants, Kaizer Chiefs, on Sunday at the FNB Stadium.
