Hunt lures Tyson to SuperSport United─── MORGAN PIEK 07:38 Tue, 12 Jul 2022
The new SuperSport United coach, Gavin Hunt, has made his first signing at the club and made sure that it is a big one.
Hunt, who is at Matsatsantsa A Pitori for a second spell as head coach, has signed the former Bafana Bafana captain and defender, Thulani Hlatshwayo.
Hlatshwayo reunites with Hunt after playing under the coach at Wits before their Premier Soccer League status was sold.
After the Students close their doors, Hlatshwayo joined the Soweto giants, Orlando Pirates, where he enjoyed limited game time.
Hunts said he is excited to bring in the experience of Hlatshwayo.
“The signing of 'Tyson' is a wonderful addition for the club and he comes with a lot of experience.
“He was the Bafana Bafana captain as well as my captain at Wits, we won trophies together and he's definitely ready to get working and to get going again. It’s a huge opportunity for him and for us at the club.”
“SuperSport United is a team that is known to win trophies and I hope I can share my experience which means I have to equally work hard.
“There is competition in the team which is good for the energy around the players as well as keeping the togetherness and I will make sure I earn my right to play.”
Hlatshwayo has signed a one-year deal with an option to renew his contract.
