Banyana seek solid team performance in WAFCON semi-final─── MORGAN PIEK 12:05 Mon, 18 Jul 2022
The national women’s football team, Bayana Banyana, are upbeat and confident ahead of their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations semi-final against Zambia on Monday evening in Casablanca.
South Africa are the firm favourites to advance to the final following their outstanding campaign thus face.
They are however well aware that the Copper Queens are a dangerous prospect and controlling the controllable will be key.
The Banyana striker, Jermaine Seoposenwe, who is currently the leading goal-scorer in the competition, said only a team effort will see the advance.
“The objective it to make it through to the final, and whoever scores in the game is who scores.
“We aren't trying to go for individual awards here - we're a team. We came here as a team; we want to win this tournament as a team.
“Hopefully everyone can collectively contribute to the goals of the team, but if I get another goal - so be it.”
Monday evening’s semi-final at the Stade Mohamed V stadium kicks off at 19:00. At 22:00, the hosts Morocco will take on the defending champions, Nigeria in Rabat.
