Folz named as Truter's successor─── MORGAN PIEK 13:15 Mon, 10 Oct 2022
The Premier Soccer League club, AmaZulu, has officially named the 32-year-old Romain Folz as their new head coach. The French coach was named as Brendon Truter's replacement on Sunday.
It is just the third time in his career that Folz has been named as a head coach of a team following a stint at the Township Rollers in Botswana and earlier in the season at Marumo Gallants.
Last week Truter was axed following a string of poor results for the Durban-based club.
The AmaZulu president, Sandile Zungu, said the appointment of Folz is a part of his vision of returning the club to its glory days.
“I repeat my personal promise to our fans that I will do everything in my power to bring back the glory days at AmaZulu,” said Zungu.
“We are championship material, there is no doubt about that.
“As the oldest club in the Premier Soccer League, we can and will challenge for trophies both domestically and continentally.
“Usuthu is a heritage of South African football and therefore we must self-correct expeditiously whenever we hit snags.”
The first game in charge for Folz will be on Friday evening against Orlando Pirates at the Orlando Stadium.
