Reds end City's unbeaten run─── MORGAN PIEK 08:08 Mon, 17 Oct 2022
Liverpool earned their biggest win of the season on Sunday after ending the unbeaten streak of the defending champions, Manchester City, on Sunday.
The match at Anfield was end-to-end stuff, with both teams having scoring opportunities, but it was down to some individual brilliance by the striker Mo Salah that led to Liverpool winning 1-0.
While Salah managed to finish an opportunity for the Reds, on the opposite side of the field, Erling Haaland also had a few quality opportunities for City.
Salah said they must build on the momentum from the win.
"We don't have to think about the title at the moment, of course personally I love to play always for a title.
"In my head I am going to fight for it, but we need to focus more and take one game at a time.
"We don't have to feel more pressure that there is still a gap between us and first and second but of course we are going to play for a title.
"As players and a team, we should be in a better position. The players are excited to win and that gives us a good push for the next games."
In Sunday's other results, Chelsea beat Aston Villa 2-0, Manchester United and Newcastle drew 0-0, Arsenal beat Leeds 1-0 at Elland Road, while Southampton and West Ham played to a 1-1 draw at St Mary’s.
On Saturday, Tottenham Hotspur beat Everton 2-0, Wolverhampton Wanderers earned a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest, Fulham and Bournemouth ended 2-2, while Leicester City and Crystal Palace ended 0-0.
