Botshabelo-born Ntseki named new Amakhosi coach─── MORGAN PIEK 07:25 Thu, 29 Jun 2023
The Soweto giants, Kaizer Chiefs, made a surprise appointment late on Wednesday afternoon by naming the Botshabelo-born Molefi Ntseki as the team’s new head coach.
There has been speculation that the Amakhosi were going to axe Arthur Zwane after they finished the 2022/23 Premier Soccer League in fifth on the table and missed out on playing continental football.
However, the Glamour Boys restructured and they named Ntseki as their new coach of the senior men's team.
The Executive Chairman at Chiefs, Kaizer Motaung confirmed the promotion of Ntseki.
“We would like to congratulate coach Ntseki and thank him for accepting this huge responsibility. We know it’s not an easy task but we believe his experience and knowledge will help us improve and achieve our goals as Kaizer Chiefs.
“He has been here for two years, working well with coaches Arthur Zwane and Dillon Sheppard in his role as Head of Technical, and will now work with them in a different capacity.
“We look forward to coach Ntseki sharing his experience and ensuring that there is stability in the team while we improve our performance. We will provide him with all the support he needs in this new role.”
Ntseki in his turn said that he is ready for the challenge that awaits and he is committed to trying to change the clubs fortunes.
“I fully accept this huge responsibility that the Chairman, our Board of Directors and the club have bestowed on me with humility and respect.
“I thank them for their confidence and belief in me to become the captain of the ship. I look forward to working with everyone involved in the technical team to bring joy to our millions of Amakhosi supporters around the world.”
In 2019 Ntseki was appointed the Bafana Bafana coach, but was sacked in 2021 and replaced by Hugo Broos.
