The USA beat Banyana Banyana 3-0 in Cincinnati on Thursday in the first of two international friendlies.

Lynn Williams opened the scoring in the 32nd minute for the two-time World Champions, while Trinity Rodman, who is the daughter of the Chicago Bulls basketball great, Dennis Rodman, doubled the lead just two minutes later.

Williams scored her brace just four minutes from half time to seal the deal for the world’s third ranked team.

The coach of the women’s national football team bemoaned her team’s concentration which led to the goals.

“We always speak about picking up and if you look at the first goal, we did not pick up,” said Ellis.

“You look at the second goal, marking on the wrong side and it came quickly after the first goal.

“Even the third goal, we didn’t pick up and those are moments of lapses of concentration.”

Banyana are in the USA to prepare for next month’s Olympic qualifiers against the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The second international friendly will be played on Sunday at the iconic Soldier Field in Chicago.
