“What everyone has told me about Bloemfontein makes me happy. They tell me that on Tuesday there will be many supporters in the stadium, so that is an extra motivation.”

The Bafana Bafana coach, Hugo Broos, is confident they can earn a positive result in Bloemfontein this evening during the crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe.

South Africa will be playing a football game in the city for the first time since 2010 when they famously beat France 2-1 during the World Cup. This also happened to be the very last game Bafana has played at any World Cup.

One thing South Africa will be banking on is for the local support to come out in their numbers and judging by what the coach said, a good crowd can be expected in the city on Tuesday.

Broos told OFM Sport that they expect fantastic support on Tuesday evening and this is something that is pleasing for him, especially see that it is also his first time at the venue.

“What everyone has told be about Bloemfontein makes me happy,” said Broos.

“They tell me that on Tuesday there will be many, many supporters in the stadium and maybe it will be the first time that we play for so many supporters in South Africa, so that is an extra motivation.

“I hope that what people have told me in the past two days, that when I arrive in the stadium, I see that they were right.

“We will need the supporters because it will not be an easy game. When it’s tough and you have those supporters behind you, you can always do more.

“Let’s hope that with the results we have and with the supporters that the answers will be there. We are here, we support you and not with 1000 or 1500 supporters now with more and it will help us enormously. So, I'm happy as we are here.”

Tuesday night’s big game between Bafana and the Warriors at the Toyota Stadium kicks off at 18:00.
