Mamelodi Sundowns are the champions of the Premier Soccer League for a record fourth year in a row after beating SuperSport United 3-1 at Loftus Versfeld on Wednesday night.

Life wasn't made easy for SuperSport after Guily Manziba was red-carded in the 7th minute of the game.

Lebohang Kgosana, Aubrey Modiba and Themba Zwane all scored for the Brazilians before the halftime break.

Teboho Mokoena netted a consolation goal for Matsatsantsa A Pitori in the 86th minute of the game.

The Sundowns coach, Manqoba Mngqithi, their dominance was the most pleasing aspect of the season.

“The game was made to be easier which was worrying me because when there is a red card so early, you start making mistakes or thinking the game is easy but I was happy with the level of professionalism with a lot of good counter-pressing and never really giving them time on the ball.

“It is normal when players have had a very good first half you try your level best to pep them up at half-time to make sure they still inject the same energy.

“This is why we made a lot of substitutions in the second half to bring other people who are a little hungry to try and make their own name.

“Second half was a little bit scrappy. We were not in total control of the game. We never really exerted ourselves.

“When we had the possession that we wanted to penetrate instead of trying our level best not to lose possession because when the game goes into transitions and we are leading, you are opening yourself up to counter-attacks.”

In Wednesday’s other league game, Black Leopards stunned Kaizer Chiefs with a 2-1 win.
