Harris confirms Davis Cup participation─── MORGAN PIEK 15:31 Thu, 09 Sep 2021
South Africa’s leading men’s single player, Lloyd Harris, has confirmed that he will represent the country next week in the Davis Cup.
Harris was named in a strong five-man squad for the trip to New York where they will be up against Venezuela in a World Group II tie.
Last night Harris was knocked out of the US Open at Flushing Meadows following a straight-sets defeat to the world number four, Alexander Zverev.
When asked about his plans going forward, Harris indicated that he will be playing in the Davis Cup.
“Actually, I have Davis Cup there next week.
“We're playing here in New York. I'll be here for a little bit longer. Then we’ll just reassess after that, see where my head's at, see where the body is at.
“I'll definitely be around for Indian Wells, that's for sure.
“Then, the Masters are pretty important.
“Maybe a build-up event before Paris. Not too many weeks left, that's for sure.”
The Bloemfontein teenager, Philip Henning, has also been included in the squad.
