For a second week in a row the coach, Jacques Nienaber, has named three loose-forwards on the bench, while Herschel Jantjies and Damian Willemse are only backlines players amongst the replacements.

Smith, who is known for his versatility and speed, said that his Sevens experience will come in handy.

“I don't think that I will just come on for one of the backs. It will probably be a last resort if something happens and we are in trouble. I will probably come onto the wing or at centre.

“I made my Currie Cup debut on the wing and because I played Sevens it will be fine for me. If it happens and we really need to I will be able to slot in there.

“With the backline and the experience that we have in the team they will make it easy for me.”
