I'm feeling actually really good - Federer─── MORGAN PIEK 09:30 Tue, 21 Sep 2021
The 40-year-old Roger Federer is confident of making a return to the sport following a third operation to his knee in the past year.
The 20-time Grand Slam champion underwent surgery to his knee after being knocked out of Wimbledon in the quarter-finals.
The Swiss Master was only able to play in 13 matches in 2021 due to the recurring knee injury.
Federer said that his rehabilitation is going a little slower than he had hoped, but he is ultimately happy with his progress.
“I'm feeling actually really good. Things are not as I hoped they would be, but I'm recovering well and the rehab is going really well.
“I've had no setbacks. I'm feeling strong and excited for what's to come. I wish I could be back on a tennis court as quick as possible, but I have to be patient.
“It's a slow period right now and I’ve got to take it step-by-step. So far, so good. I'm very happy.”
Federer is confident that he will be back on court next year and already plans to enter Wimbledon, a Grand Slam he has already won eight times.
