Olivier eager to play for South Africa again─── MORGAN PIEK 07:40 Tue, 30 Nov 2021
The former Itec Knights seamer, Duanne Olivier, has made himself available for the three-Test series against India next month.
The aggressive fast bowler hasn't played for South Africa since February in 2019 when he took up a Kolpak deal with Yorkshire.
Olivier is back in South Africa and plying his trade with the Lions where he is impressing. Last week against the Knights Olivier returned figures of 5/53 and 3/13 against his former team.
After four rounds in the CSA Division 1 4-Day series, Olivier, is the leading wicket-taker by some way with 28 wickets.
He is followed by another returning Kolpak player, in Simon Harmer with 20 wickets after four games.
In an interview with Cricinfo, Olivier, stated that he still has an ambition to play for South Africa.
“I am open to everything but I am trying to think of the present and not the future at the moment.
“Victor Mpitsang phoned me and asked me if I was open to playing for South Africa again and I said 'of course I am'.
“It's up to the selectors if they want to include me.”
Olivier has played in ten Tests for the Proteas to date with a staggering 48 wickets at an average of 19.25. He has best figures of 6/37 and has three five-wicket hauls.
He has played in two One-Day Internationals as well with three wickets to his record.
