Rising South African tennis star, Lloyd Harris' aspirations of taking part in next week's French Open came tumbling down after being eliminated in round 1 of the major's qualifying tournament that takes place this week.

Harris was hopeful of joining fellow countrymen Kevin Anderson and Raven Klaasen on the clay courts in Paris but needed to navigate a 1st round qualifier against Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Although he was no stranger to the clay of Roland Garros having played at the iconic tennis venue in 2014, for the Junior French Open it was unfortunately not to be for the 21-year-old after succumbing to the Canadian in 2 sets, 6-4, 6-3.

Ranked 213th in the latest ATP singles rankings the Capetownian was taking part in his first Major qualifying event since making the leap from junior to professional in 2015.

The year's 2nd biggest major tennis tournament, the French Open, gets underway on Monday the 28th of May.
