Anderson managed victories over Norbert Gombos of Serbia, Andreas Seppi of Italy and Philipp Kohlschreiber before dispatching Monfils for a spot in the quarters.

Federer in his turn secured a quarters spot with a win over Adrian Mannarino of France while World Number 1, Rafa Nadal, made light work of Jirí Veselý to secure his final 8 spot at SW19.
