With surprises having been the order of business at the beginning of the Grand Slam, there are no surprises as Wimbledon reaches its final four in both men's and women's singles.

The early stages of the Grand Slam produced some surprises, the biggest one coming out of the women's singles. Veteran Venus Williams was undone by 15 year old Cori "Coco" Gauff who upset the former champion in her first Grand Slam by beating her in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. Gauff became the youngest player in the history of the Grand Slam to reach the second round after beating Venus.

15 year old Gauff's dream run continued when she beat Magdaléna Rybáriková in the second round, winning that match in straight sets 6-3, 6-3. Gauff would go on to win her third round match as well to force her way into the final round of 16 where she met former World Number 1, Simona Halep. Gauff's dream run came to an abrupt end when Halep handed her a 6-3, 6-3 straight sets defeat.

Halep went on to beat Zhang Shuai in the quarter-finals to claim her spot in the semis where she will meet Elina Svitolina on Thursday 11 July. The other semi-final will pin a Serena Williams, who has been watched carefully since her US Open "melt down" at the 2018 US Open, against Barbora Strýcová on the same day. The 37 year old Number 10 ranked American has already been fined $10 000 by the All England Club for damaging one of Wimbledon's courts with her racket prior to the start of the tournament and will be looking to keep her emotions in check when she faces a wily Strýcová in the semi-final, especially after having seen a psychologist after the incident at the US Open.

Over in the men's section, Roger Federer will be hungry to add a ninth Wimbledon trophy to his cabinet, to go with his record breaking eight that he already holds. The Swiss Maestro has set up a blockbuster semi-final match where he will face Spanish rival Rafael Nadal on July 12. The winner of that semi final will be in action against the winner of the other semi-final which will see Novak Djokovic playing against Roberto Bautista Agut. Both the men's semi-finals will be played on Friday July 12.
