Anderson beat Carballés Baena 7-5, 6-4, and 7-6 in the tight qualifier.

The two-time Grand Slam finalist will now face Australia's Alex de Minaur in the opening round.

Meanwhile, Lloyd Harris, who lost to Jannik Sinner of Italy in the semi-finals of the European Open on the weekend, will face Norway's Casper Ruud in the round of 32. Recently Ruud beat Harris in the round of 32 at the Indian Wells Masters.

Ruud and Harris have met twice in the past with the Norwegian holding a 100% record over the 24-year-old South African.

Harris will once against play in the doubles in Vienna, but this time he will partner Horia Tecau of Romania. Last week, Harris played alongside his assistant coach, Xavier Malisse, of Belgium and the pair reached the semi-finals in Antwerp.

They were beaten 6-4 and 6-2 in the semi-finals of the European Cup by the 3rd seeded Dutch pair of Jean-Julian Rojer and Wesley Koolhoof.

In Vienna, Harris and Tecau take on England's Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram of the USA in the first round.
