The 8th seeded former semi-finalist, Karolina Pliskova, of the Czech Republic was eliminated from the clay-court Grand Slam at Roland Garros.

Pliskova was sent packing after a 6-2 and 6-2 defeat to the unseeded French player, Leolia Jeanjean.

The unknown Jeanjean earned a wildcard entry into the French Open and she is ranked 227th in the world.

The 26-year-old Jeanjean was facing a top-100 player for just the second time of her career and is making her Grand Slam in Paris.

Pliskova became the sixth top 10 player to exit the slam in the women's singles.

On Wednesday the world number three, Maria Sakkari of Greece was beaten in straight-sets by Karolina Muchova of the Czech Republic.
