Daniil Medvedev of Russia is the top-seed in the men's singles and he will face Stefan Kozlov of the USA in the first round.

Iga Swiatek of Poland is the top-seed for the women's single and comes up against the 53rd ranked Jasmine Paolini of Italy in the open round.

The world number one, Medvedev, said it’s a petty that Novak Djokovic was not allowed into the country for the tournament.

“The rivalry against Rafa is really I feel like heating up in a way. 22, 21, a joke of a number.

“It's a pity he's not here. It would be a great story I think for tennis,"

“It's American government rule. Completely understandable also.

“When I look back at US Open nights, every night starting 2019 where I got booed for a reason, it was not like there was no reason.

“All these moments, and especially the final against Rafa, give me goose bumps because it was something special when I'm never going to forget, my team will never forget."

Medvedev missed out on the 2022 Wimbledon in London due to Russia's military invasion of Ukraine.

The first matches at Flushing Meadows will get underway at 18:00.
