After Daniil Medvedev was knocked out by Nick Kyrgios last night, Nadal remains the highest ranked men’s singles player at the Grand Slam.

The King of Clay, Nadal said in order to keep his hopes alive of a record 23rd Grand Slam title he will need to be at his very best.

“He is can play very aggressive tennis and he is a player that I am not going to win if I'm not playing well.

“I need to play well and I hope that happens. I know that it's going to be a very important test for me in the fourth round of the US Open.

“I accept that I am going to have a very tough opponent and in some ways, it is a challenge for me.

“I enjoy that and I need to ready for it.”

Preceding the game between Nadal and Tiafoe at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, the USA's 8th seeded Jessica Pegula will face Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic.
