South Africa's Lloyd Harris has qualified for the first round of the Lyon Open that gets underway on Monday. On the weekend the 26-year-old South African had to play in the qualifiers in order to get into the main draw.
On Saturday Harris beat Manuel Guinard of France 6-3, 6-4 and 6-1, while yesterday he played against Beibit Zhukayev of Kazakhstan.
Harris won this game 6-3 and 6-2.
South Africa's leading men's singles player will face another Frenchman in the form of the world number 89, Arthur Rinderknech, today in the round of 32.
The match between Harris and Rinderknech is scheduled to get underway at 12:20 on Monday afternoon.
Earlier in the month Harris suffered three straight first round defeats in Korea on the Challenger Tour.
This week is the last chance for the player that as recently has last year was still ranked 32nd in the world will get to fine tune before the 2023 French Open at Roland Garros in Paris. The main draw for the year’s second Grand Slam gets underway on Sunday.
