Harris targets first-ever win over Zverev─── MORGAN PIEK 07:28 Tue, 30 May 2023
South Africa’s Lloyd Harris will be in action on Tuesday in round one of the French Open being played at Roland Garros in Paris.
The 26-year-old Harris will be up against the former world number two and Olympic champions Alexander Zverev of Germany.
It will be the fourth time they get to face each and Zverev holds a three and o record against South Africa’s leading men’s singles player.
The last time they met was during the quarter-finals of the 2012 US Open. This match was somewhat controversial due to Zverev’s delaying tactics which broke the rhythm of Harris and was not appreciated by the crown in New York.
Harris goes into the clay-court match with very limited game time this season due to a lower back issue which now seems to be sorted out.
The South African will be banking on his service game against Zverev, who him self has excels in the department.
Harris who was once ranked as high as 31st, is the current world number 294, while his counterpart is seeded 22nd for the French Open.
Play on Court Simonne-Mathieu is scheduled to get underway at approximately on Tuesday afternoon at 12:15.
