The University of the Free State’s Department of Drama and Theatre Arts presents an exhilarating theatrical experience, Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind (30 Plays in 60 Minutes). It's a genre-defying, fast-paced, interactive event where each audience chooses the order of the plays, creating a unique and unrepeatable show every night. With the clock ticking down from sixty minutes, audience members shout out numbers corresponding to play titles displayed on stage. The cast races to complete all thirty plays before time runs out. Expect a kaleidoscope of thirty short works that are, in turn, comic, poignant, political, absurd, and deeply personal, performed in the Neo-Futurism style: No characters. No fourth wall. Just performers, in the moment, engaging directly with the people in the room. Too Much Light is directed by multi-award-winning director Dion van Niekerk and performed by a dynamic cast of talented final-year drama and theatre arts students on Thursday 25 and Friday 26 September 2025, at 18:00, in th Scaena Theatre, UFS. Tickets available at Webtickets or at the door. It’s theatre at full throttle: bold, unpredictable, and bursting with creative energy.
