Alucius Mocumi's Biography

Alucius Mocumi is well-known throughout Central South Africa not only as a radio presenter, but singer/songwriter, MC, actor, voice over artist and music producer as well.

Born on 10 February 1989 in Jouberton, Klerksdorp and raised in the same city of Matlosana as well, Alucius studied music business at Boston Klerksdorp after completing his high school career.

It was very evident that Alucius would end up in the entertainment space and used his voice to be seen and heard as he describes himself as very loud and talkative child as well as dancing everywhere, including on the streets! People use to call him ‘crazy’. And, the name ‘crazy man in Africa’ stuck with him throughout high school.

His career as an entertainer started as a dancer, which got recognition to compete internationally in Italy where he took 2nd place for jazz dance and winning SABC 1’s Jika Majika competition.

Alucius’s radio career commenced in 2010, at local radio station Star FM. There he exited in 2016 while presenting the afternoon drive show, The Mad House, which was honored by the district for its community service.

In 2016, Alucius joined OFM starting off with Your Early Morning on Saturday and Sunday from 1am till 5am. He then moved to All Request Sunday on Sunday afternoon at 4pm till 7pm as well as weekdays 1am till 5am.

Currently, Alucius is known as the energetic voice behind VIP Access and The Boom Box, weekdays 9pm till 1am, as well as The Real Good Weekend, 12pm till 4pm.

In 2019, Alucius also became a voice over talent for Platinum North West TV and tried his luck in acting, landing a supporting role on the film, Isono Sam, on Mzansi Magic. Within the same year he took over the Red Room on The Voice SA season 3 episode 21 as a TV presenter.

Alucius brings a whole lot of energy to the world of radio world to help keep his listeners’ spirits high and be a companion for them. What he loves best about radio is that it is immediate, making it the most ‘alive’ of media.

His favorite quote is: “If you want something, go and get it – period!”

Alucius loves his peace and quiet and rest during his down time, which in a way is his creative space.
