Award-winning TV presenter and producer, radio host and filmmaker, Renaldo Schwarp, is a great example of a modern, well-rounded broadcast professional.
Schwarp is no stranger behind the mic, having previously hosted shows on three of the biggest commercial radio stations in South Africa. TV audiences will also recognise his face as the host of lifestyle and actuality shows on kykNET and SHOWMAX.
With more than nine years of experience across multiple platforms within the local broadcast landscape, Schwarp has positioned himself as one of the most in-demand broadcasters and digital strategists.
This Pretoria native headed up the digital portfolio at Jacaranda FM (2018-2021) to great success, all while hosting two weekend shows on the station. Ahead of that, he was a multimedia journalist and project manager for brands within the Media24 stable (Netwerk24 and WeCan24).
While at Media24, Schwarp started executive producing and hosting insert shows for VIA TV, while honing his radio skills as the host of CapeTalk’s weeknight show, Late Nights.
In 2019, Schwarp was named one of Mail & Guardian’s Top 200 Young South Africans and received a Koker Youth Award at the 2019 Afrikaanse Taalraad (ATR) Koker Awards. In 2020, he was awarded the 2020 SRC Award for Exceptional Achievement at Stellenbosch University's Rector's Awards.
To date, perhaps Schwarp’s greatest contribution to the local media industry has to be the work he does with his production and PR agency, SHARP PICTURES. Since its inception, the agency has produced and conceptualised shows for VIA TV, SARIE, Netwerk24, kykNET’s Silwerskermfees and SHOWMAX.
The 29-year-old is currently writing his first Afrikaans book, which is set to be published by LAPA Publishers in September 2021. He currently is also a field presenter on kykNET & Kie’s actuality show, KLOP!
Catch Renaldo on OFM Nights, weekdays, 19:00 – 21:00, and on The Real Good Weekend on Sundays, 12:00 – 16:00.
