The area manager of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in Bloemhof, where two ballot boxes were apparently found abandoned, will receive a warning. This is according to the North West IEC manager, Tumeloentle Thiba.
She says according to the local office it was only a single used box. OFM News previously reported that the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) said the two boxes were found in Ward 4 near Bloemhof Primary School, earmarked as a voting station by the IEC.
Thiba did not specify whether the incident will be investigated further or if they have received any other complaint again.
The EFF has since called on the IEC to investigate the incident and bring those found to be on the wrong side of the Electoral Act to book.
Meanwhile, the so-called small parties on Thursday night staged a protest at the IEC Results Operation Center (ROC), protesting against the results. They say they want the elections to be rerun and they demand that the elections be declared not free and fair.
