Centlec condemns claims that transformer caused fire─── 05:46 Fri, 29 Nov 2019
The raging fire that broke out at one of the estates in the North of Bloemfontein yesterday was allegedly caused by rubber dump, which consequently affected the power supply in that area.
This is according to Centlec spokesperson, Lele Mamatu, who condemned claims that the fire was caused by a transformer.
This, after allegations implied that an explosion of one of the power utility's transformers was the cause of the blaze.
Mamatu explained that the team discovered tin foil and bubble wrap used underneath a sink, which allegedly affected the power supply in the area.
OFM News previously reported that the Mangaung Fire and Rescue team and other fire extinguishing agencies were deployed at the scene from yesterday afternoon.
Residents, along with farmers and other businesses were also at the scene to help put out the fire.
