Education spokesperson Howard Ndaba says that the department expects nothing less than the commencement of schools. Ndaba adds that Free State MEC, Tate Makgoe, will on the day visit the Nozala and Marang primary schools in Bloemfontein.

The visit will showcase the state of readiness of schools in and around Bloemfontein, as well as their Talking Walls initiative, adds Ndaba. He tells OFM News that the initiative was launched in 2019 by Makgoe for Education to aid the enhancement of the school curriculum.

Ndaba said, “Talking Walls are used to close gaps such as transition from one phase to another, as learners are being exposed to next grades content daily."

Talking Walls is an initiative that works towards beautifying schools, encouraging creativity and learning through activities.

“The benefits are that it promotes incidental reading, and promotes values as most of the schools have values displayed on them. The more kids see them, the more they live them. Teachers are able to use them as extra resources as they are able to take learners outside the classrooms and do their lessons in a playful way and a different environment,” Ndaba.
