The 39-year-old Mackenzie Ratselane, who stands accused of stabbing his Lesedi FM presenter wife, Dimakatso Ratselane, has officially made a brief appearance before the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

Ratselane has made his first appearance in Courtroom 20 where he chose to make use of Legal Aid as his legal representatives. He is facing four charges, including kidnapping and attempted murder, amongst others.

OFM News earlier reported that he was nabbed while in hiding in Gauteng after a warrant of arrest was issued for him. The well-known Lesedi FM presenter was found last Thursday by community members in a critical condition, with multiple stab wounds. The state on Thursday argued that the case against Ratselane be postponed for further investigations and that his bail is denied. He is due to make his next appearance next week Tuesday 23 February.

The provincial police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, in a statement said prior to the attack, she allegedly had an argument with her husband on their way to pick up their children.

Meanwhile, Dimakatso is said to be recovering well in hospital.

Prosecutor Sello Matlhoko told the media that additional charges might be added against Ratselane.
