High volumes of shoppers at Vaal CBD's─── 12:40 Sat, 31 Jul 2021

The Vereeniging and Vanderbiljpark central business districts (CBD) are experiencing high volumes of shoppers.
This, due to the looting of two malls and shopping centres recently in most Vaal townships.
Vaal shoppers now have to travel to the CBD and stand in long queues, as the Evaton and Eyethu Malls, as well as the Thabong shopping centre in Sebokeng in the Vaal Triangle, were looted during the recent Gauteng and KZN unrest.
During the previous unrest and looting spree, taxi operators patrolled and protected the Vereeniging and Vanderbiljpark CBD against looters.
Covid-19 safety protocols are reportedly not being followed by the shoppers.
