Brits - The case against Dr Ganesh Anil Anirudhra, who was facing 319 charges for allegedly defrauding private medical aid schemes and the Department of Labour’s Compensation Fund, was provisionally withdrawn in the Brits Regional Court today.
The Specialized Commercial Crime Unit is to conduct further investigations in the matter.
Anirudhra is alleged to have made fraudulent claims against the private Bonitas Medical Scheme and the Department of Labour’s Compensation Fund between 2008 and 2012.
He was previously convicted in 1989 and 1991 for fraud. It is also alleged that he practiced as a gynaecologist while only registered as a general practitioner.
Anirudhra was out on bail of R20-000.
