Report on Moroka royal family dispute with ministry─── REFILWE REFILWE 12:43 Sat, 27 Sep 2014
Refilwe Mekoa Bloemfontein - A report on the Moroka chieftaincy dispute in Thaba Nchu is currently at the Ministry of Cooperative Governance and Human Settlements.
This is according to Free State MEC Olly Mlamleli, who says she and Premier Ace Magashule are waiting on Minister Pravin Gordhan to present them with the report.
Magashule appointed the Commission on Traditional Leadership Disputes and Claims to investigate the dispute that has divided the Moroka royal family regarding the rightful heir to the Barolong throne.
Mlamleli says the Moroka Barolong-Boo-Seleka’s chieftaincy issue is a serious dispute.
It has been reported that the dispute negatively affects the proper functioning of the traditional council.
Thaba-Nchu's royal Chieftain Gao Moroka (wife of the late chief, Albert Moroka) has been requested to step down and let the alleged rightful heir (Kingsley Moroka, a direct descendant of Kgosi Moroka I) take over the throne.
According to the traditional clan's secretary, Kenosi Mojanaga, some disgruntled members of the Khuduthamaga Barolong Boo Seleka traditional council believe that the current Chieftain Gao Moroka is not royal blood and neither is she from the appropriate royal family background.
