Two Social Development officials killed, another critically injured in Rouxville accident

Rouxville - Two Social Development officials were killed and another critically injured when the car they were travelling in collided with a truck on N6 in Rouxville.

The department said in a statement that social worker, Mxolisi Skomolo (31) and Community Development Practitioner, Ntombi Sanyaka (56) were killed in the accident on Wednesday. Sbongile Ngangalani, also a social worker, is in a stable condition at Mediclinic Bloemfontein.
 
The deceased were stationed at the Smithfield office and both serviced the Dewetsdorp area.
 
The department is presently in contact with the families and colleagues to offer support and counselling.
 
The department wishes to extend its deepest sympathy and condolences to their families and colleagues.
 
Social Development MEC Sisi Ntombela said: "This is obviously a huge loss for all of us, an extremely stressful, nightmarish situation for everyone involved, and we will ensure that our staff gets all of the help and support they need right now."
 
More information will be availed as soon as the bereaved families and the department has finalised funeral arrangements.
