Cheetahs confirm the return of Specman─── MORGAN PIEK 15:30 Mon, 22 Jun 2020
The Toyota Cheetahs have officially confirmed the signing of the Springbok Sevens stalwart, Rosko Specman.
Specman was part of the Cheetahs team that played during the team’s inaugural Guinness PRO14 campaign in 2017.
Cheetahs coach, Hawies Fourie, told OFM Sport that Specman is a great signing for the team, and it is always important to contract an x-factor player.
“It’s a great signing for us. Rosko also wanted to play sevens and there was another offer for him, but they didn’t want to allow him to play for the Blitzboks as well.
“We came to an understanding that he will be made available for the Olympics if he is chosen for that squad. He will also be available for the Dubai and Cape Town Sevens.
“I am very happy to have him in our squad. It will just strengthen our back-three and the competition for a place in the starting line-up will be fierce.
“That is what I want. We want quality players in our squad and we want competition among the players in the squad. He will add a lot of spice to the competition.
“He is a great team player, has a very good work rate, and has the x-factor that we all like and need.
“We are looking forward to having Specman join us.”
Specman has signed at the Cheetahs from the Bulls on a two-year contract which starts on 1 July.
