Thabazimbi - A buffalo was auctioned off for R168 million earlier today at the Thaba Tholo game farm in Limpopo.
Thaba Tholo is a 36 000-hectare farm where rare species are bred.
The eighth Thaba Tholo Auction commenced yesterday and is currently underway.
CEO, Rubin Els, has undertaken to speak to OFM News later this afternoon about this highly priced animal.
In February this year, Bloomberg reported that a buffalo named Horizon, because of his wide horn span, sold for a record R176 million. South African-based businessman, Peter Bellingham, paid R44 million for a 25%-share of this animal.
