“This vibrant production highlights the themes of female empowerment and resilience.”
Mid-Morning Magic’s Yolanda Maartens spoke to Nicole Brooks, writer and producer of the show “Obeah Opera” about what the audience can expect.
In celebration of Women’s Month, the Performing Arts Centre of the Free State (Pacofs) will host the Canadian musical “Obeah Opera”, alongside the Soweto Theatre and the South African State Theatre.
This vibrant production, featuring dynamic a cappella singing and intricate choreography, highlights the themes of female empowerment and resilience. “Obeah Opera” redefines the Salem witch trials narrative from the perspective of Caribbean enslaved women, offering an inspiring and uplifting experience. Catch it at Pacofs’ André Huguenet Theatre from 15-17 August.
