The Pangea String Quartet (PSQ) is a Johannesburg-based chamber ensemble that strives to inspire and engage audiences by presenting key works in the string quartet repertoire.

Serge Cuco is the principal violinist. He joins Yolanda Maartens in the OFM Art Beat to discuss their special program planned for their performance, as well as share his message for those who consider the violin their instrument of choice.

The Pangea String Quartet consists of Srdjan ‘Serge’ Cuco on violin, Dieter Hendricks also on violin, Elbe Roberts on the viola, and Gerrit Koorse on cello.

Concert of String Quartet Music by Haydn, Schubert, and Smetana by the Pangea String Quartet.  The concert, All 4 One, takes place on 21 October at NG Vyhoek, the temporary home of the NWU Conservatory.

With diligent focus, constant curiosity, and drawing on the experience and interpretations of each of its members, the PSQ creates an environment that honours the traditions of the repertoire being explored, while promoting a cohesive perspective that is uniquely theirs.

The PSQ draws its name from “Pangea”, a name given to the hypothesised single, contiguous supercontinent before the continents drifted apart. This is consistent with their ethos of one mind with equal respect, where “borderless” healthy discourse enables their pursuit of excellence.
