How often do you revisit your business' internal controls?─── OLEBOGENG MOTSE 13:38 Wed, 05 Apr 2023
In the age of hybrid working, it’s never been more important to revisit your business' internal controls. So how often are you doing this?
Partner at Mazars South Africa, Marc Edelberg, tells the OFM Business Hour, that the heads of organisations need to conduct regular check-ups of a business, in the same way that one goes for regular health checks with their physician.
“The Internal controls of many companies have in many instances been seriously compromised under conditions of hybrid working,” explained Edelberg.
Conduct route check-ups and create a culture of double-checking
Conducting routine check-ups creates a more vigilant organisation because it sends a stern message to employees that operations are being closely monitored. Furthermore, inculcating a culture of double-checking creates a heightened awareness of due process and due diligence.
