Nine arrested following NW protests─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 10:39 Tue, 22 Jan 2019
Nine people have been arrested in the North West following protests that broke out in the Britz area on Monday.
It is alleged that the community of Maboloka protested against lack of service delivery and demand that the Provincial Task Team (PTT) be disbanded.
Police spokesperson, Amanda Funani, told OFM News that the protests led to the closure of roads leading to Zilkaatsnek and Hartbeespoort and asks motorists to be cautious.
She says they have opened cases of malicious damage to property and public violence after four buses were set alight. Funani says the police are at this stage monitoring the situation very closely.
Meanwhile, the suspects are expected to appear before the Britz Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
