Police analyst in #PrellerSquareShooting to undergo cross-examination─── OLEBOGENG MOTSE 09:48 Fri, 25 Jan 2019
The defence in the murder case of Bloemfontein businessman, Louis Siemens, is expected to cross-examine Free State police crime analyst Karin Jacobs in the Local Magistrate’s Court today.
This as bail application proceedings for three of the suspects in the case are expected to continue in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court today, following a postponement in early January. Businessman Stanley Bakili; Bayswater Detective, Molebatsi Mogoera; and Court Orderly, Kagiso Chabane are expected to be in the dock today to determine whether they will finally get bail after the long drawn-out proceedings.
Today’s appearance comes mere days after it was revealed in court that disbarred advocate, Karabo Tau, and Information Technology technician, Sizwe Mpati, not only used the same pistol that was used to gun down Siemens in a separate crime, but that they and Bakili allegedly formed a part of a criminal underworld in the Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality. In that appearance on Tuesday, January 22, Jacobs used an intricate mind map projected on a screen in court to show the alleged links between Tau, Mpati, Bakili and a web of organised crime in the area. The number of individuals directly or indirectly linked to the Siemens murder now stands at seven. It is unknown at this stage if more arrests are imminent.
Alleged repeat offender, 29-year-old Mojalefa Jali Molusi, who was arrested in Phase 2 on Wednesday, January 9, is set to appear in the same courthouse next week, January 30, for Siemens’ murder. Molusi has been placed at the murder scene by authorities on the day that the CityMed Managing Director was murdered in the basement parking area of Preller Square in broad daylight.
