ANC spokesperson, Zizi Kodwa, confirms that Ramaphosa is back at the hotel in the Northern Cape capital and is expected to deliver the keynote address at the Galeshewe Stadium later today. His visit to the province forms part of the ANC’s people manifesto launch ahead of the general elections in May. OFM News spoke to runner, Otsile Kuduntwane, from the North West province after he completed the race. He says he had a great race and having Ramaphosa present as the race kicked off was a surprise and an honour.

Race Director, Gerard Kruger, described the President’s brief appearance as awesome and a real treat for participants whose spirits were elevated by Ramaphosa’s presence.

The ANC’s spokesperson in the Northern Cape, Naledi Gaosekwe, told OFM News previously that Ramaphosa will engage with community members, hand over title deeds and also address other questions regarding service delivery issues experienced by the residents. Kodwa confirmed that the president will no longer be taking part in a walkabout in the residential area of Roodepan, as initially scheduled. The gates at Galeshewe Stadium will be open from 8am, while Ramaphosa is set to deliver his speech at 10am.

Currently runners in the 21 km Vodacom MeerKat Run are now streaming in at the Bishops Old Boys Club in Powell Street, ending off their race. The participants in the 10 km race have completed the race.
