Bloem's Margo Fargo saving the world one straw set at a time─── SAZLY HARTZENBERG 11:24 Mon, 04 Feb 2019
During the Miss Earth international competition last year, Bloemfontein beauty, Margo Fargo, was placed third in the #breakfreefromplastic campaign with her #WasteStopsWithMe campaign, where she found a way to get rid of plastic straws for good.
After returning from the Philippines, Margo Fargo was so inspired by the way the people in the country lived that she decided that she needed to bring some of that inspiration back to South Africa. According to Fargo, her having been exposed to that culture every single day created a consistent change in the habits of her daily life. While over there, she was awarded with three metal straws and ended up loving them.
Fargo explained that when she received these straws, she knew that this was a gap that needed to be filled and that was when Far_go straws came to be.
When asked about her product, she told OFM News that these are a stainless steel straw set that has close to an infinite lifespan and it is available in various colours. She said that they are trendy and make drinks interesting.
“The impact of buying a set means you’re saying no to the use of single-use plastics. You are making a difference even if you do not know it,” said Fargo.
She concluded by saying that there will definitely be an expansion in the future for the sake of living sustainably and freely.
