SACP set to object deployment of corrupt officials by FS ANC─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 08:11 Wed, 13 Feb 2019
The South African Communist Party (SACP) in the Free State vows to act against the ANC, should it deploy members implicated in corruption to the Legislature and Parliament, following the Provincial List Conference that was held late last year.
The SACP’s provincial spokesperson, Phillip Kganyago, says they will not allow members alleged of corrupt activities to occupy these seats whilst there are still members who are eligible to lead. He told OFM News that although they were not part of the list conference in December, they will object to decisions that would allow corrupt officials to represent the province in these legislative houses.
The governing party and its alliance partners, the SACP, were in disagreement over the representation of its members set to partake in the conference. According to Kganyago, the list of members nominated to be deployed to parliament and legislature was not shared amongst all partners and this was amongst some of the reasons they refrained from partaking in the conference.
The communist party is adamant it will fight to ensure the names of hard-working officials on the ANC provincial list represent the province.
All political parties set to contest the elections on May 8 were last year expected to decide on candidates to occupy posts in both provincial and national legislatures after the elections and submit their candidate lists to the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) no later than April this year.
