The biographical-drama is about the life of the Bloemfontein-born, best-selling author, J.R.R. Tolkien, who is most famous for penning The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.

The movie explores the formative years of the orphaned author as he finds friendship, love and artistic inspiration among a group of fellow outcasts at school.

Many believe that Tolkien’s inspiration for the Lord of the Rings, in particular, came from when his was fighting for Britain in the 1st World War with the Lancashire Fusiliers, where he held the rank of lieutenant.

The movie is expected to hit the circuit in May this year.
