Ten accused who were arrested for a failed cash-in-transit heist near the Sol Plaatje fresh produce market, will lodge a formal bail application on 21 February.

They appeared in the Kimberley Magistrate's Court on Friday.

The incident took place on 6 February on Cecil Sussman Street where shots were fired by the police, although no-one was injured when the accused attempted to rob a G4S vehicle that had collected cash from the market on 6 February.

Legal representative for the accused, Louis Matlejoane, said the accused had been assaulted and tortured while they were in custody and were prevented from opening charges against police officers.
