#ANC finalises party list ahead of May elections─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 11:42 Wed, 20 Feb 2019
The ANC is today expected to finalise the vetting process of party members who will be deployed to provincial legislatures and parliament after the May 8 elections.
The process comes after provincial party structures made submissions to national structures following their provincial list conferences. Meanwhile, the party’s tripartite alliance partner, the SACP in the Free State, has vowed to act against the ANC, should it deploy members implicated in any corrupt activities to represent the party in the Legislature and Parliament. The SACP's provincial spokesperson, Phillip Kgayago, previously told OFM News that they will not rally behind members who have allegedly been involved in corruption whilst hard working members are overlooked and not considered for these positions.
He reiterated that they will object to the deployment of any corrupt members, despite the SACP not having been part of the provincial list conference held on December 10 last year.
The governing party and the SACP were in disagreement over the representation of its members set to partake in the conference. According to Kganyago, the list of members nominated to be deployed to the parliament and legislature was not shared amongst all partners and this was one of the reasons they refrained from partaking in the conference.
He said they will not allow members alleged of corrupt activities to occupy these seats whilst there are still members who are eligible to lead. The SACP is adamant that they will fight to ensure the names of hard-working officials are included on the ANC provincial list representing the province.
According to media reports, 32 senior ANC members nationally have already failed the vetting test.
