Police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, tells OFM News that four officers who served the force with due diligence will receive a 40-year service medal, 60 will receive a 30-year service medal, while 52 will be honoured for 20 years. He says apart from this other officers will be promoted to the ranks of Sergeant and Warrant Officers for showing dedication and loyalty to the force. He adds that they are expecting important dignitaries from the government to grace the event with their presence.

Makhele says the act of honouring the men and women in blue in the province is one of appreciation.

The event is expected to be held at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium in Rocklands at Bloemfontein at 09h00. Premier Sisi Ntombela and MEC of Police, Roads, and Transport, Sam Mashinini, will be amongst the dignitaries on the day.

Makhele says there will also be events where officers will be honoured by their cluster commanders.
