SACP weighs in on ANC List | News Article
The South African Communist Party

The ANC’s Tripartite Alliance partner in the Free State, the South African Communist Party (SACP), is steadfast in not supporting the party’s selection of members, involved in state capture, who will be deployed to legislature and parliament.

Following the release of the ANC’s top 100 list of candidates who will be deployed to parliament, the SACP’s provincial spokesperson, Phillip Kgayago, says they will not rally behind corrupt members from the province whilst hard-working members, who are capable of leading, were not considered. He says they will chart a way forward regarding the deployment of corrupt members, despite having not been part of the provincial list conference held on December 10 last year.

The governing party and the SACP were in disagreement about the representation of its members who were set to partake in the conference. The Communist Party accused the ANC in the province of undermining alliance partners during its list process.

According to Kganyago, the list of members nominated to be deployed to both parliament and legislature was not shared amongst all partners. This was amongst some of the reasons why they refrained from partaking in the December provincial conference.
