Mangaung to transfer almost R250 000 worth of payments, unless payees come forward

Mangaung to transfer almost R250 000 worth of payments, unless payees come forward | News Article

The Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality in the Free State urges residents and businesses in the metro who made payments into the metro’s bank account between June 2012 and August 2015 come forward and provide proof of payment thereof.

Unless these residents and businesses do this by 30 June 2019, monies paid over by them in the municipal account during the period stated will then possibly forfeit these payments as the money will then be transferred the municipality's general revenue account.

This is according to a notice which was placed on the Metro's website earlier this month stating that this announcement applies to those in the city who made payments to the municipality using internet banking and had not used their municipal account numbers, which start with 100, as a payment reference.

These residents and businesses, who the notice applies to now have just over two months to approach the municipal offices at any of the five towns that the municipality provides services to by providing proof of payment for these monies which were paid over during the period stated. According to a PDF attachment that accompanied the notice on the website, these unallocated payments amount to R244 056,34.

OFM News tried to contact municipal spokesperson, Qondile Khedama, for comment on the matter. While he requested questions to be sent to him last week, these remain unanswered.

Should Khedama respond, those answers will form the basis of a follow-up article.

Kindly visit click on this link to read the notice and go through the document herewith provided to see if your residential or business account is not affected by this announcement.
